Land Titling for Indigenous Tribes in Colombia
Brief: Present evidence for a land titling case of the constant acts of corruption that gave rise to the violent forced displacement of indigenous tribes in the Colombian Orinoco Region
Outcome: Through extensive interviews with the heads of the affected indigenous families, anthropologists who have been working in the area since the 1950s, and a vast compilation of archival audiovisual material and photographic and cartographic material, the team was able to organize, categorize, and synthesized all the information assets into a series of interactive documents that the judges could review and analyze the inconsistencies in the illegal land titling in the Colombian Plains. A total of 4 interactive maps divided by type of affectation, an interactive timeline of evidence, and printed cartographic documents, were delivered in a lawsuit that resulted in the new titling in favor of the indigenous tribes.
